  • Only leashed dogs are allowed on Mantoloking beaches from 15th May to 01st October.
  • Dogs only enter the beach from sunrise till 10:00 am and from 06:00 pm to sunset.
  • Dogs are barred from entering the North Lagoon area from 15th May to 1st October.
  • Unleashed dogs are allowed on Mantoloking Beach from 2nd October to 14th May.
  • Unleashed dogs must always be in immediate & direct control of their owners.
  • Owners are responsible for removing and throwing the waste discarded by their pets.

Mantoloking Beach Dog Licensing

Registration for dogs that are seven months or older is mandatory. Residents can get their dog’s license via municipalities. A rabies vaccination by a certified veterinarian is required for licensing. Dogs need to wear their license badge at all times. People are allowed to keep a maximum of 3 dogs. 

Licenses must be renewed annually. Registration is only done once for “seeing eye” dogs. They are free from the hassle of annual renewal. Charges for licensing are $4 (registration) & $1 (tag). Additionally, $.20 towards the Pilot Clinic Fund is paid. A late charge of $1 is also applicable.

  • By Air: The nearest airports to Mantoloking Beaches are Ocean County Airport (MJX) and Newark (EWR)
  • By Train: A train to Mantoloking is available from Trenton-Mercer (TTN). It goes via Trenton Transit Center, Rahway, Wallenberg Ave, Bay Head, and Long Branch. The journey takes around 5 hours (approx).
  • By Bus: NJ Transit operates a bus service to Brick Blvd at Cedar Bridge Ave from Terminal B. The service is available every 4 hours. It takes around 2 hours.

Badges are mandatory on the beaches for people older than 12 years. The tags are required from 13th June till 5th September (Labor Day). Tags are purchased from the badge trailer on Downer Ave. 

Visitors can purchase it from 10:00 am till 05:00 pm. Pre-sales of beach badges are unavailable. Visitors must wear and display these badges at all times. Seasonal badges cost around $20 (approx). Charges for daily badges are $5 (approx). Military personnel get free access to the beach with valid IDs.

  • Visitors are responsible for keeping the beach clean. They must clear all the waste generated on the beach.
  • Surfing and fishing are allowed on the beach. However, it must be done far from the bathers. 
  • Vehicles or all-terrain vehicles are prohibited from entering Mantoloking Beach. 
  • Food and alcoholic beverages & drinks are prohibited on the beach.
  • Baby tents with a diameter of 36” high x 36” wide x 36” deep are allowed.
