Dog-friendly beaches in New Jersey are popular summer retreats. They are perfect for enjoying a fun-filled day with furry friends. One such spot is the beautiful Mantoloking beach. This pet-friendly beach is spread over 2.2 miles. Dog rules here allow pets to have a gala time. The policies and laws here also allow dogs to enjoy being unleashed. It’s among the cleanest and least crowded beaches.

Mantoloking is divided into multiple beaches, which can be reached from different avenues or access points. The avenues or access points are Carrigan East Avenue, Williams East Avenue, Newman East Avenue, Stephans East Avenue, Lyman Street, 1039 Ocean Avenue, 1071 Ocean Avenue, 1085 Ocean Avenue, 1107 Ocean Avenue, and Herbert Street. All the beaches at Mantoloking are well-connected to nearby attractions.

Mantoloking Beach Dog Rules, NJ

• Only leashed dogs are allowed on Mantoloking beaches from 15th May to 01st October.
• Dogs only enter the beach from sunrise till 10:00 am and from 06:00 pm to sunset.
• Dogs are barred from entering the North Lagoon area from 15th May to 1st October.
• Unleashed dogs are allowed on Mantoloking Beach from 2nd October to 14th May.
• Unleashed dogs must always be in immediate & direct control of their owners.
• Owners are responsible for removing and disposing of the waste discarded by their pets.

Is Mantoloking Beach free?

No. Visitors need to purchase a preseason badge, which is available from April 1 to Memorial Day, as stated in the Town Ordinance. You can also buy these badges from the Police Department Window. Badges are required for people 12 years or older.

Mantoloking Beach Dog Licensing

Registration is mandatory for dogs seven months or older. Residents can get their dog’s license from the municipality. A rabies vaccination by a certified veterinarian is required for licensing. Dogs must wear their license badge at all times. People are allowed to keep a maximum of three dogs. 

Licenses must be renewed annually. Registration is only done once for “seeing eye” dogs, free from annual renewal hassle. Charges for licensing are $4 (registration) and $1 (tag). Additionally, $.20 towards the Pilot Clinic Fund is paid. A late charge of $1 is also applicable.

• By Air: The nearest airports to Mantoloking Beaches are Ocean County Airport (MJX) and Newark (EWR)
• By Train: A train to Mantoloking is available from Trenton-Mercer (TTN). It goes via Trenton Transit Center, Rahway, Wallenberg Ave, Bay Head, and Long Branch. The journey takes around 5 hours (approx).
• By Bus: NJ Transit operates a bus service to Brick Blvd at Cedar Bridge Ave from Terminal B. The service is available every 4 hours. It takes around 2 hours.

Visitors sit at home and enjoy the glistening sunlight on the blue water. Footage from the beautiful beach is most popular. These cameras also offer helpful information. Real-time data on wave conditions, tidal conditions, water temperature, local weather, and storm coverage are also available.  

Mantoloking Beach Tags

The beaches at Mantoloking are popular hotspots in NJ. They are accessible along Ocean Ave from 13 access points. However, visitors must wear beach tags at all times. Badges are mandatory on the beaches for people older than 12 years. The tags are required from June 13th to September 5th (Labor Day). Tags are purchased from the badge trailer on Downer Ave. 

Visitors can purchase it from 10:00 am to 05:00 pm. Pre-sales of beach badges are unavailable. Visitors must wear and display these badges at all times. Seasonal badges cost around $20 (approx). Charges for daily badges are $5 (approx). Military personnel get free access to the beach with valid IDs.

Mantoloking is a popular tourist destination. People from all over come here seeking solidarity and having fun. The town offers various rental options for tourists, including beach houses, cabins, luxury bungalows, and more. Properties are available in all budget options.

Mantoloking Beach Rules and Regulations

• Visitors must stay away from the dunes at Mantoloking Beach.
• Visitors are responsible for keeping the beach clean. They must clear all the waste generated on the beach.
• Surfing and fishing are allowed on the beach. However, it must be done far from the bathers. 
• Vehicles or all-terrain vehicles are prohibited from entering Mantoloking Beach. 
• Food and alcoholic beverages & drinks are prohibited on the beach.
• Baby tents with a diameter of 36” high x 36” wide x 36” deep are allowed. 
• Smoking is forbidden.
• Nonalcoholic beverages in a reusable container are allowed.
• Sleeping on the beach from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. is prohibited.

I spent a wonderful summer day at Mantoloking Beaches with my dog! The simple dog rules made it easy to enjoy both on- and off-leash fun.
