It has two leash-free dog areas: Fiesta Island and Dog Beach. Fiesta Island welcomes canines and allows them to roam freely off-leash. It is located at the foot of Voltaire Street. However, dogs are not permitted in other parts of the Bay Area.

Mission Bay Dog License

  • After the dog turns four months old, they must obtain the license within 30 days.
  • An approved Rabies vaccination certificate is required before applying for the license.
  • Renew the license before its expiry date, or a fine of 25$ will be charged.
  • Make sure the dog’s vaccination is up to date. 
  • The license can be easily acquired via mail or in person.

  • By Bus: The nearest bus stop to Mission Bay is Mission Blvd & San Luis Obispo PI, Mission Blvd & El Caramel PI, Mission Blvd & San Juan PI, Mission Blvd & Santa Barbara PI, and Mission Blvd & Santa Clara PI.

  • Camping in the area at night is strictly prohibited and unlawful.
  • Waterskiing and other water-related activities are strictly discouraged during sunset and sunrise hours.
  • Glass materials of all types are banned.
  • Littering or failing to clean up after oneself is highly discouraged and may be legally punishable.
  • Swimmers can only swim in designated areas where lifeguards are present.
  • Fishing is permitted in almost all parts of Mission Bay, except in areas designated for water activities.
