Many facilities are available for pet owners in the nearby areas of this Delaware dog beach. This coastal region is just 45.5 kilometres from the city of Dover. Pups enjoy running around the dunes freely and playing with their families.

  • Dogs are allowed on the beach from October 1st to April 30th.
  • Pups should be on a leash (maximum length 6 ft) unless it’s a leash-free zone or the dog is well-trained in voice commands. 
  • Owners must clean off the feces after their pets. 
  • Dogs need to be kept away from surfing and kayaking zones of the beach.
  • Dogs are restricted from entering the shorebird nesting area.
  • Dogs can be unleashed if they are well-trained and respond to voice commands.

Broadkill Beach Dog Licensing

According to state laws, pet owners must get their pups licensed when they are 6 months old and older. It can be done from government websites or authorised agents offline or online. The licensing fees vary from $7.00 to $45.00, depending on the age of the pup and the tenor of the License. You can get a 1-year, 2-year, or 3-year tenor.

The required documents are a current Rabies Vaccination Certificate or Official State Certificate of Medical Exemption from Rabies, Proof of spaying/neutering, and proof of age for old dogs. Dog parents should keep a copy of the documents for future records and renew the license after the end of the term.

  • By Ferry: The nearest ferry port to the city is Cape May- Lewes Ferry. It’s 15 miles from Broadkill Beach. Visitors can take a car ride to the ferry from the beach. 
  • By Bus: You can take Bus 303 to reach Broadkill Beach on a budget-friendly budget.

Broadkill Beach has become a popular holiday destination for dog parents in Delaware. The impressive dunes on the golden sandy beach and crystal clear ocean water make it a perfect spot for everyone to enjoy.

People love to sunbathe and participate in different water activities on the shore. Other famous Delaware Dog beaches near it are Lewes Beach and Rehoboth Beach. All of these are within 35 miles of Broadkill Seashore. 

Visitors need to carry everything by themselves. Common things for beachgoers, like shade umbrellas, are unavailable here. Beach tags and lifeguards are absent, so people need to be careful.

The current is quite strong, and the waves are small to medium. Many love to surf and kayak over those. Visitors must check the weather forecast, as Broadkill Beach is susceptible to storms and floods. 

  • Parking: Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis due to the unavailability of specific parking spots. 
  • Things to do: Beach Plum Island Nature Preserve, Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge.
  • Amenities: Visitors need to carry everything they need for their beach day. Portable potties and trash bins are available. The road to the sandy beach is paved, and visitors can park their cars anywhere. 
  • Activities: Water sports, Kayaking, Fishing, Sunbathing.

  • As this is an open beach, Beach tags and lifeguards are unavailable. Visitors need to be careful about themselves and their pets. 
  • Pet owners need to be respectful towards other visitors. 
  • Visitors need to carry in and carry out all their belongings. This includes their trash, too. 
  • Wild animals like deer, snakes, crabs, and foxes can be seen here. Visitors need to be careful while encountering these. 
  • A DE fishing license is required to fish from the beach.
  • Beach bonfires are allowed.

We spent hours enjoying the soft sand, gentle waves, and laid-back vibe. It’s an excellent place for both humans and furry friends to unwind and make the most of those warm summer days. Definitely a must-visit on any dog lover’s list!

      Beach tags are required to park your vehicle on the beach on weekends and holidays starting from Labor Day to Memorial Day. Car owners need to prebook a spot to get it.

      Delaware Durf Fishing Plate also required to drive on any Delaware Beach.
