  • Dogs are allowed from 1st May to 30th September from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 7 p.m. only. Long leashes are prohibited at this time. They must be leashed using the short ones from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • From 1st October to 30th April, they are allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. During this time, they must be leashed by long leashes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dog toys are allowed at this time between Fort Pebble and Beach Street.
  • Dogs are restricted from chasing wildlife. 
  • Owners must have a leash with them all the time. The off-leash dog must be under voice control.
  • Pet waste must be disposed of at the trash receptacle.
  • Dogs and owners must refrain from entering the dune vegetation.

Willard Beach Dog Licensing

Dogs must be licensed as per the state laws. All the license ends on 31st December. Renewing can be done via the website or by email. A $1 fee is required for registration. If the rabies certificate is up to date and the dog is spayed or neutered, a $6 charge will be applicable. If not, then a $11 charge will be applicable.

About Dog-Friendly Willard Beach – South Portland, Maine, US

Willard Beach in South Portland is a four-acre quaint beach. This small sand and pebble beach is in between Fishermen’s Point and Southern Maine Community College Campus. Simonton Cove is adjacent to the beach and loved by visitors.

This beach offers a magnificent view of Ram Island and Cushion Island. Visitors and Tourists enjoy themselves by dipping in the water, basking in the sun, listening to the offshore sound of the buoys, and watching lobster boats and ferries.
