4. Napatree Point Conservation Area Beach – Westerly, RI

Napatree Point Conservation Area Beach, or Napatree Point, was a dense woodland once. So, the name was derived from Nap 0r Neck of Trees. Most of this woodland was destroyed by the Great September Gale in 1815.

This sandpit was created naturally by the longshore drift process. This 1.5-mile coastal region ends in the business district of Watch Hill, Westerly. This is a protected waterfront at the southwestern end of Rhode Island. 

Dogs are allowed on the beach if they are on a leash and follow their owners’ voice commands. Napatree Point is a popular wildlife conservatory and public beach. It’s been protected by the Rangers of Watch Hill Conservancy and Fire District.
